What band never gets old for you?
I can get tired of a band if I listen to them to much. It doesn't usually last but it happens for about 75% of the music I listen to. This never happens with Megadeth and Iron Maiden, I could listen to them all day and still enjoy it tomorrow.

Re: What band never gets old for you?
Megadeth is definitely one of them... I'd say...
Sonata Arctica
Judas Priest
Iced Earth
Live
Coheed and Cambria
To name a few...

Nightwish when Tarja was singing for them
Rhapsody

Okay, I was kidding about the last one.

I actually burned out on SA and Nightwish. Also, Kamelot and Silent Force. The euro metal thing got old for me but i'll have to dig 'em out and listen again. Priest never gets old.

Hey Doomryder, I still want to hook up for a show in Portland. It's hard on my schedule but if you hear of any let me know.

I think I'm going to listen to Stained Class right now...
You guys both in Oregon?

I've always wondered if I would get burned out on power metal, but to be honest I don't listen to it all the time. I listen to most of my music at work, and to keep peace with my co-workers, I've added a lot of their music to my mp3 player. This probably helps me from burning out.

Re: What band never gets old for you?
My collection is mostly metal, but I'd say 30% is other stuff, so I just switch genres when I start getting burned out.

Cool, I don't know of anybody good playing at the Roseland right now, but I'll keep checking their schedule.
You missed a really good show with Sonata Arctica, but Nightwish was very disappointing to me. The band was excellent, but they played alot of old songs and Anette butchered them. She did decent on her material, but missed several notes on Whomever Brings the Night which I consider to have her best singing on the album.

Nice! I'm about 12 hours away down here in Reno. Are you going to the HOM convention Black?

No, Washington. The Roseland Theater down in Portland though is an awesome place to catch a show. Much better than most Seattle venues (at least the ones I've been to).

I don't get tired of the bands that have that Priest/Maiden feel either. Barren Cross, Cage, Iced Earth and others.

Re: What band never gets old for you?
Iced Earth might be my favorite band tied with Megadeth. I can't get enough of their music.
Re: What band never gets old for you?
For me to go to HOM would be a stretch. Time off by myself and the money just for me isn't a great option for the family right now.

Yeah... As much as I'd love to go... It all depends on time off and money.. It's hard to say what'll be going on by that time...
Re: What band never gets old for you?
The better question for me is which bands I tire of least.
I'm rarely in the mood to hear too much of a certain band or sound for an extended period of time. I try and mix it up and take breaks from a band every once in a while.
But those bands that it does take me a while to tire out on are:
Queensryche
Labyrinth
Gamma Ray
Running Wild

Queensryche
I know this is a sin... But I just can't get into the Ryche at all. What am I doing wrong?

Where are you starting at?
Re: What band never gets old for you?
hmm...that's usually pretty standard fare for folks. But I understand if you don't like it. Some people I know who I would swear would like them just can't get into them.
If you still want to try, see if you don't like 'The Warning'.

Re: What band never gets old for you?
I'll check it out... I've heard lots of talk about them, so I finally did check them out... And just couldn't get into it at all.
Re: What band never gets old for you?
Operation Mindcrime is THE classic for Ryche, IMO, but The Warning and the s/t are also classic. Rage For Order is also good, but I have to be in the mood..... Empire is stellar, if a bit more commercial. Never get tired of that album....
Other bands I can always listen to:
Bride
Priest
Rez
Rush
Megadeth
Pink Floyd
buncha others... I don't so much get tired of things as I decide I really do need to listen to...... fill in the blank..... next.

Metalh, listen to Rage for Order all the way through and if you don't like it by the end you won't like the 'ryche.

Rhapsody is so choice.
Between the Buried and Me is one I can't seem to stop listening to. EVER. haha.

Re: What band never gets old for you?
Well, I haven't even been listening to this band for a whole year yet...but, since I got Ultimatum Into The Pit I listen to this cd, or songs from it at least every other day, and sometimes, every day, and I don't see myself getting tired of it.

I need to get that at some point
Re: What band never gets old for you?
It is definitely my go-to cd. For example, I listened to part of it during two workouts this week, and during 2 different soccer games this week....and, that is just what I remember. I don't tire of this.
I even loaned my mp3er, to a co-worker, during work, so he could use it while working out at the gym (at work)....he wanted something heavy and I told him Ultimatum and Deliverance...he came back and said "I really like that Ultimatum".

Time makes fools of us all I suppose.
Nowadays, I would remove Running Wild (maybe Labyrinth) and put in Savatage, JOP, Megadeth and maybe Death (as far as metal goes).
