Forum layout, smileys, etc.

Post by MetalH on Mon Oct 06, 2008 12:49 pm

So how's does the board feel? Does the background show up? I can't seem to get it to show up on my computer. Also, I'm addind smileys. Any smiley requests?

Any forums that you think would be cool? Are the forums now redundant? Should I make some more subforums? There's a lot of option.

All I get for a background is blackness.

My background shows gray. I have a pic set up, but it doesn't want to work....

Should I change the colors? I've got a ton of skins and themes to choose from. This one is a modified xbox theme lol.

I installed a new theme... I kind of like it... But the stuff on the left side of the screen is kind of annoying. What do you all think?

So what should I do to avoid "CMR clone syndrome"?

Well, there's no 'Weight room' yet, so you're off to a good start there. Very Happy

(As far as differences go, I mean)

I'd see if you can't bring in people who don't know what to expect...that way it doesn't feel like we just transplanted the entire CMR membership here. That's not a bad thing, but it would just feel redundant.

The layout itself is different enough (needs some tweaking, but that's not pressing) to set itself apart. We need topics and forums that differ from the CMR and different people. That's where it becomes different, IMO.

So, what kind of forum changes could we make to set this place appart? I was thinking we could do some subforums, but I didn't want to make too many subforums so it's annoying.

I was thinking maybe having some music subforums, say for different genres?

Ok, I did some tweakage and made you an admin. Feel free to mess around with some settings, etc. The forums are pretty easy to change.

Had to check out another of my forums for this Laughing

But a place for artists/writers/musicians/etc to post something they've been working on seems like a good idea.

I'd keep a place for musicians to talk shop (good idea for a music themed forum).

That's all for now. But the backgrounds on the post reply/new topic windows need to be fixed. They're white and I can't see what I'm typing.

Ok, I'll fix that first. Mess around with the admin panel. I'll ad a musicians forum... What should we call it?

Let me think about it. I've got some admin powers to review

Hey, I fixed the post/reply thing... I'll think about it too. With the forums, to ad a new forum, you just had to add it to the right category. It's all really easy to figure out. If you want to just go ahead and set up the musician's forum, do it. Any problems I can fix. Smile
