Judas Priest
Ok, so I only own three JP albums, but I just listened to them all back to back. I own Stained Class, Painkiller, and Screaming For Vengeance. I really love them all! Great heavy metal ahead of it's time. I heard Painkiller(the song) on the radio for the first time and it really blew me away. I didn't know that JP was that metal, so I went out and bought the album and it really surprised me at how good it is. I really need to get some more JP albums soon.

Re: Judas Priest
JP has always been that metal, they just added a different texture with 'Painkiller'
Just a distinction I'd like to make.
I own 'Sad Wings of Destiny', 'Sin After Sin', 'Defenders of the Faith' and a vinyl of 'Screaming for Vengeance'. It's cool to hear the progression in the sound of the band as they take bits from previous ideas and amplify them. I really like 'Sad Wings' though. It's probably my favorite.

Re: Judas Priest
I kinda wanna get that one next. Don't know why. I think the title is cool and the album artwork is great! Sadly, the fundage is lacking right now...

Re: Judas Priest
You should know it's very different from the other JP albums. It's got a different feel to it. They got more into the 'Priest' sound after it and it's probably the only JP cd with a piano, that I know of. There are some songs that could be considered trademark of their sound, but variety is a big thing with this one.
Y'know, I think I'm gonna spin it

Re: Judas Priest
See, that sounds quite appealing to me. The three I have are definitely JP doing what they do best. SWOD sounds really interesting.
Did you like Nostrodaumus? I sure didn't.....

Re: Judas Priest
Gotta love The Priest!
Sad Wings is indeed a different sort of Priest, but a really great album. Rocka Rolla is also good, but different. Slightly trippy and doomy....
Other albums I might recommend:
Hellbent for Leather: The title song is my favorite Priest song EVER!! When I saw James Rivera's side project Sabbath Judas Sabbath, I specifically requested it, and they tore it up. Killer song! The whole album is good though. Delivering the Goods, Green Manalishi, Burnin' Up, Running Wild, Rock Forever, Evening Star, all winners! Plus, Before The Dawn is by far the best ballad Priest has done (IMO, of course)....
Unleashed in the East - Killer live album, coving a wide range of Priest history. The bonus tracks (four of em!) on the remastered version are great as well.
Ram It Down - This is a forgotten gem in the Priest catalogue. After the debacle of Turbo, Priest brought back the heavy while retaining the high production values. Blood Red Skies is one of the best songs they ever did, and others like I'm a Rocker, Heavy Metal, and the title track are stellar as well. Some songs aren't so great (Love Zone, Johnny B Goode), but overall, this is a solid album that deserves much more respect than it gets.

Re: Judas Priest
I love the Screaming Era to Defenders of the Faith the best. Other then Turbo though all their eras have some good stuff, even the Ripper albums. Nostradamus has some good stuff, more symphonic and a lot of filler but between the two albums is an album's worth of good stuff. I got it used too so it's worth it.

Oh, the gay jokes.
For MetalH: Defenders is great. Another slightly varied Priest album (not outstandingly so, but still). Though it does have the one song that makes (and half of another) that makes me cringe.
